A site, lease or land introduction
We are looking for a safe, workable long-term site in Manchester or nearby. Underused, transitional, landscaped or meanwhile-use land could all be worth discussing.
I can discuss land โDucks in the City ยท future Manchester project
Alford Ducks is seeking a landowner, builder, supplier or funding partner to help create a future Manchester Duck Park for rare and heritage ducks, welfare, habitat and education.
The aim is a careful, high-welfare place for ducks, nature and learning โ built in stages with the right people around it.
Future project: land has not been secured and public visits are not available yet.

A practical project brief
We are not looking for a quick fix or an empty promise. We want to work with people who care about welfare, sensible design and a lasting Manchester nature project.
We are looking for a safe, workable long-term site in Manchester or nearby. Underused, transitional, landscaped or meanwhile-use land could all be worth discussing.
I can discuss land โHelp could include secure duck housing, fencing, gates, water, drainage, rainwater capture, planting, solar advice or safe visitor-access planning.
I can help build โWe welcome conversations about practical funding, grant leads, ethical sponsorship and introductions to people who may be able to help make the first site possible.
I can offer support โIf you care about duck welfare, habitat or education, tell us what experience, time or local connection you could bring when the project has a suitable site.

A potential site could be underused, transitional, landscaped or offered for managed meanwhile use. We would consider its actual suitability before making any commitment.
For builders, landscapers and suppliers
The right practical help can turn a bare space into safe, useful habitat. We are especially interested in thoughtful, durable solutions rather than flashy promises.
Secure duck homes and fencingPredator-resistant housing, gates, safe boundaries and welfare-first fit-out.
Water, drainage and rain capturePractical systems that help keep ducks, ground and nearby planting in good condition.
Native planting and wetland edgesHabitat planting, trees, wildflowers and carefully designed water-side areas.
Low-impact site featuresAppropriate solar advice, recycled materials and safe future education or volunteering areas.
Clear answers
The project is early stage, so we would rather be clear now than over-promise.
Yes. We would like to hear from landowners who may be open to a lease, licence, managed-land partnership or a suitable site introduction. Every possible site would need careful checks for access, welfare, neighbours, ecology, planning and safety before any agreement is made.
Useful support could be advice, design, labour or materials for secure duck housing, fencing, gates, water, drainage, rainwater capture, native planting, solar features and safe future visitor access. We will only plan work once a suitable site and the right permissions are in place.
No. This is an early-stage future project. Land has not been secured and no public visits are available yet. The current Alford Ducks business continues to focus on welfare-led ducks, eggs, hatching eggs and practical advice.
Not yet. There is no online donation payment on this website. Please contact us first so we can discuss the appropriate route for materials, sponsorship, a grant lead, a donation or a future partnership. Any future community-benefit work is intended to sit separately within a planned Community & Nature CIC.
The first project is intended for Manchester and nearby Greater Manchester areas. A good long-term site matters more than forcing a project into the wrong location, so we are open to sensible introductions across the area.
Start with a conversation
Tell us what you have in mind โ land, a building skill, materials, funding, a local introduction or future volunteering. We will reply honestly about the next sensible step.
No online donations are being collected at this stage. The intended Community & Nature CIC is a future plan, with separate governance and finances from the existing Alford Ducks business.
